As a urological oncologist, Dr. Given’s focus is on the treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney and testes cancer. He is also active in clinical research trials in urological oncology and serves as principal investigator in several of these trials. He is a professor of urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and is currently a member of the COLD Registry Board.
Dr. Given has served as president of the Tidewater Urologic Society, president of the Virginia Urological Society and chief of urology at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Given is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urological Association, and the Virginia Urological Society. He has presented at numerous meetings of these organizations. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Given is married and has 3 children. He is a Norfolk native and has been practicing urological oncology in the area since completing his training. When not working, he enjoys golf, skiing, and spending time with his family.
