All the best to Dr. Miley Walker in his retirement.

All the best to Dr. Miley Walker in his retirement.

All the best to Dr. Miley Walker …..

Dr. Miley Walker has been practicing urology since 1978 and has been with Urology of Virginia since 2008. January 1, 2020 marked his official retirement although he had us guessing until the last minute.

Dr. Walker found that practicing medicine was fulfilling and said, “Urological care offers an opportunity to develop gratifying relationships with patients often over an extended period of time. The urologist has an opportunity to constantly learn and utilize the latest medical and surgical treatment modalities”.

As he always has, Dr. Walker enjoys listening to and performing jazz, even enjoying a stint as a drummer for the Vintage Jazz Quartet. Music runs in his family, and Dr. Walker proudly boasts that his eldest daughter has also performed with the jazz ensemble. He will now have time to do all the performing his heart desires !!

Dr. and Mrs. Walker are big fans of Colonial Williamsburg; having taken their their golden retriever Capt’n Jack Sparrowfor manywalks down ‘Dog Street’, otherwise known as Duke of Gloucester Street.

We wish all the best to Dr. Miley Walker as he moves into the next phase; the best phase. Urology of Virginia is planning an event for him to be announced shortly.

“Dr. Miley Walker was my first mentor when I arrived in 1974 as a new urologist with Devine,Poutasse, Fiveash and Associates . He was a resident and knew the ropes. He showed me where the cafeteria, restroom, entrance and exit pathways of the old Norfolk General Hospital (wooden floors that creaked and 4-6 bed to a room ward) were located. He provided sound guidance and advice. 45 years have flown by and now we’re both old timers. Congrats Miley for your years of service providing great urologic care to this community.”
