50 Healthy Snack Ideas - Fine Fit Day

There are so many healthy options for snacks that it should be impossible to resort to raiding the vending machine, or picking whatever looks good at the store when you’re already starving. Already starving = unhealthy choice, usually. I’ve rounded up some great easy recipes and healthy snack ideas from healthy living bloggers so you can prep snacks for a week or more, plus I’m sharing the best choices you can make if you need to grab something quickly from the store.

If you haven’t heard of energy balls (or bites), then you may not follow any nutrition or healthy living blogs. ???? There’s a reason these are a popular recipe – they’re easy to make in a food processor or a blender (I can confirm the blender works for most recipes); they’re small enough to be snack or treat size; you can make them in bulk and keep them in the freezer or fridge for easy snack packing. These lemon energy balls were the first I ever tried making and are still a favorite of mine. Here are lots more options to keep you snacking happy:

Granola bars are so easy to grab and throw in your bag or car so you know you have a healthy snack handy. But making your own is less expensive, plus you can make them in bulk and always have one for a kid’s lunchbox, or to grab when you’re heading out.

Sometimes you’re just craving something savory. If you lean toward chips over chocolate, these are the snacks you’re going to want to try.

Nine times out of ten, if I suddenly realize I’m hungry and it’s a long time til dinner, chocolate springs to mind. Keep your sweet tooth happy in a healthier way with these yummy snacks that are actually healthy.

If you want something crunchy, or to actually take hiking with you, these popcorn and trail mix snacks are for you. These are so easy to put together and ration out into snack size bags so you know exactly how much you’re eating when you just want to graze.

Let’s face it, a party with appetizers is basically just a shrine to snacking. These snacks can be made for in between meals, but easily become hors douevres for a get together with friends.

Get your baby carrots and pepper strips ready, because these dips and spreads look delicious.

Even the most diligent food-prepper finds themselves hungry and trying to find an option on the run. These are my favorite choices for when your only option is buying something to snack on.

Banana or apple with a snack size nut butter (like these single packs from Justin’s)

Snack bar – I like the Pressed by Kind bars and I’m a huge fan of the GoMacro MacroBars. Also, GoMacro is donating 10% of their net sales of their Peanut Butter MacroBars to Farm Sanctuary during May! You can read about Farm Sanctuary here and buy the bars here.

Trail mix – most delis will have trail mix in big bags, so just pay attention to the serving size and this is a healthy and filling snack.

Avocado – half an avocado eaten with a spoon is filling and delicious.

Smoothie drink  – if you’re the kind of person who can feel satiated with a drink rather than a food snack, these can be a good choice. Just check the label to make sure it’s not loaded with added sugar.
