Available Positions

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/NURSE PRACTITIONER
Urology of Virginia, located in Hampton Roads, is seeking experienced Physician Assistant (PA) who will be responsible for daily clinic duties in collaboration with a physician. The PA will also share in weekend hospital rounding rotation with other mid-level providers.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
Assess the patient’s medical condition by completion of a urological examination
Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient’s medical condition
Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
Fulfill hospital rounding duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Licensure as Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia
Urology or Surgical experience preferred but not essential

 

BENEFITS AND AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST
We are seeking a professional and experienced Benefits and Authorization Specialist who will work closely with the Clinical Staff to ensure all drug benefits and authorizations are obtained prior to treatment for all providers and all locations.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contact patients by letter and phone calls to ensure collection of deductibles prior to the service.
Provide estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested.
Meet with patients on or coordinate with billing for complex billing issues
Provides information in order to obtain drug benefits and authorization:
Calls the insurance company and obtains benefits and authorization for the service requested.
Puts a note in Connect Care advising clinical staff of drug authorization status.
Puts a note in Athena; on the related appointment and in Quickview “Patient Notes”

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Two years hands on medical assistance experience within a physician’s office preferred
Knowledge of third party payers, medical insurance, benefits levels and understand medical insurance claims processing
Knowledge of medical terminology and excellent computer skills
Strong interpersonal communication and problem solving ability
Must be familiar with carriers and services in need of authorization/referrals
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment mandatory
Excellent customer service skills
Epic EHR experience preferred.
Ability to manage patient phone calls and inquiries in an efficient, courteous and timely manner

 

BILLING SPECIALIST
We are seeking a professional and experienced Billing Specialist who will be responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. This is a full-time position.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works assigned claims that have not been paid from a list and ensures claims are clean for submission and re-submission to the insurance carriers
Completes the Appeals process to assist in the collection of all money due to the practice for medical services provided
Contacts PCP offices to obtain retroactive referrals for patient services performed
Contacts insurance carriers to obtain retroactive authorizations for patient services performed
Provides all necessary medical records attachments required by the insurance carrier

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in medical billing and/or successful completion of secondary education in medical billing and/or medical administration
Must fully understand the billing cycle to include all aspects of registration, billing, and appointment scheduling
Experience working with the Athena system is preferred
Working knowledge of CPT coding, HCSPCS coding, and ICD9 coding as it relates to urology medical services. Understands the utilization of modifiers and other coding rules to include the AMA, CCI, and other coding organizations
Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) is preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills for corresponding with physicians, patients, fellow employees, and third party insurance company representatives
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage patient phone calls in an efficient, courteous and timely manner
Proficient in completing all necessary tasks to finalize the billing process

 

CLINICAL ASSISTANT
We are seeking a professional and experienced Clinical Assistant who will perform
a variety of clinical tasks for a physician, as assigned.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures that exam rooms are prepped, cleaned, and stocked in preparation for patients and between patients as required. Preps patient charts as required for appointments
Preps patients for any in office procedures and assists providers as necessary with exams, treatments and testing. As well as, performs necessary procedures as required (phlebotomy, bladder scans, catheter changes, etc.)
Collect and properly label all necessary lab specimens to include but not limited to blood, urine, and biopsy tissue
Perform CLIA waved laboratory testing, strictly adhering to the policies and guidelines established by UVA and the practice
Effectively uses necessary PPE as appropriate and abides by safe handling and disposal protocols of medical equipment and materials
Provide patient education and training as needed to include by not limited to self- catheterization, bladder irrigations, pre-op instructions and post-op care
Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting all patient information to include but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, provider orders, etc.
Cover phones for patient triage for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment, by answering, documenting, and routing when appropriate all incoming patient calls
Obtains authorizations and pre-certifications for clinical treatments, exams, diagnostic testing, and prescriptions as required per the patient’s health plan

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent
Successful completion of secondary education in medical assisting or other nursing related field of study
Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
Excellent Customer Service Skills

 

CLINICAL PHONE TRIAGE – CALL CENTER
We are seeking Clinical Phone Triage personnel who will be responsible for scheduling non-surgical office appointments and responding to incoming patient inquiries in an efficient and timely manner. This is a full-time position.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a positive first impression of the practice
Appropriately schedule new patients and established patients for office visits by evaluating their needs to determine appropriate provider of care, based on the conversation with the patient and insurance eligibility
Receive incoming requests for appointments from referring providers via telephone calls, emails, in-baskets or faxes and manage these requests appropriately and in a timely manner
Promptly and courteously answers incoming calls and routes them appropriately to individual physician offices according to established customer service protocols
Provide clear documentation within the electronic patient record of each patient’s request, so that the patient needs can be addressed appropriately
Projects an image of professionalism in both verbal and non-verbal communication to create a positive experience for patients, providers and colleagues
Cover phones for patient triage for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment, by answering, documenting, and routing when appropriate all incoming patient calls
Communicate with doctor/clinical staff to ensure patients’ needs are met

We are seeking a strong interpersonal Patient Care Representative who is willing to build relationships with patients, physicians and co-workers by providing “world class” service.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greeting patients and checking them in
Answering phones
