Valerie is a tenured Nurse Practitioner with diverse accomplishments in the nursing arena. Her extensive experience not only includes decades of nursing, in both hospital and office settings, but also training, staff supervision and patient advocacy. Originally graduating as a Registered Nurse from Sentara Norfolk General School of Professional Nursing in 1982, Valerie would subsequently return to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1998 and her Masters of Science Nursing degree in 2004.
Beginning her nursing career in the Neurosurgical ICU, Valerie would go on to work as Clinical Coordinator, Head Nurse and Patient Care Supervisor over the course of 23 years with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Following the accomplishment of obtaining her FNP degree, Valerie ventured out into the private sector working at the Wellness Clinic of Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, responsible for diagnosis and treatment of independent residents along with Long Term Care patients and Assisted Living Facility tenants. As an FNP, Valerie has worked in specialty care for urology, gastroenterology and geriatrics, consistently focused on providing quality care and health maintenance for each of her patients.
Currently certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Valerie her role and the opportunity to work and collaborate with quality medical professionals in a cohesive and supportive group environment. Urology of Virginia is delighted to welcome Valerie back to the team at this point in her extensive nursing career. When spare time permits, she enjoys reading, gardening and scrapbooking.
