Shelby Burton is a Minnesota native, who completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Dakota. She worked as a mental health crisis caseworker after graduation in Texas and spent some time overseas working with the mental health population in India. She returned to the United States to pursue her graduate degree, starting at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach. She was then accepted into Eastern Virginia Medical School’s PA program. After completing her graduate studies, she became an acute care cardiology PA with Bon Secours in Portsmouth and Norfolk. She spent 3 years caring for cardiology patients before making a cross country move to Southern California. She transitioned into urgent care and has spent the last 6 years in various urgent care clinics. Of the last year, she has been traveling to various locum tenens assignments, helping underserved populations in North Carolina and Northern California. She is excited to bring her urgent care and travel experience to Urology of Virginia’s urgent care clinic, and is happy to be settling back in Virginia. She and her husband are closely connected to our military community, as her husband is a navy veteran who continues to support our military through civil service work.
In her free time, she, her husband, and their two dogs are avid travelers, campers, Jeep enthusiasts, and off-roaders. She loves all the water activities our region provides and looks forward to the warmer months each year for paddle boarding, fishing, and beach days.
