Urology of Virginia Welcomes Dr. Sobol

Virginia Beach, VA – (08/27/2018): Urology of Virginia is proud to announce that beginning August 27, 2018 Dr. Sobol will begin seeing patients at its Harbor View location in Suffolk, VA. (7185 Harbour Towne Parkway, Suffolk, Va. 23434, 757-457-5100)

Dr. Sobol is a fifth generation physician whose family instilled in him the belief that the needs of the patient come first.  After immigrating to the United States in early childhood, he grew up in New Jersey and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Neuroscience and Acting from Brandeis University in Massachusetts.  He earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha.  He went on to complete his internship in general surgery and residency in urology at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.  He then continued his training at Mayo Clinic, completing a fellowship in minimally invasive robotic and endoscopic urologic surgery.

In addition to general urology, Dr. Sobol’s clinical interests include robotic surgery, advanced stone disease, neuro-urology as well as benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, bladder and kidney.  Much of his fellowship training focused on Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) – a procedure for benign enlargement of the prostate particularly suited for treating men with very large prostates or complete inability to urinate.

Dr. Sobol has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals and presented his research at national meetings.  He received best poster at the American Urologic Association meeting in 2016 for his work on recurrent prostate cancer.
